Storms of Life, build faith

As winter continues for 2010 and more storms approach us, it makes me think of the storms that happen in our lives. Are we ready to meet these challenges in our life? If not do we just fold under the pressure of the present storm.

In just the past few years we have been riding a roller coaster of blessings and tragedy. From the blessings of the birth of five grandchildren, to the tragic death of two grandchildren and a loving mother. Why do these bad things happen and why does God not step in to stop the storms of life.

I believe God puts these challenges in front to not only strengthen us, but to make sure we lean on Him.

Read Habakkuk who thought God was not fair.

As the prophet complained to God in two complaints.

Hab 1:4 "Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted."
Hab 1:13 "Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous?"

Read Gods answer to Habakkuk it is the answer we don't want to hear. God is not fair... but he is just.
...... But to summarize we need to understand one thing. God is on His throne and we do not have a say in what He does. We are the clay and He is the potter.

Hab 2:20 "But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him".

Three things to remember;

1) Remember what God has done in our lives.
2) Accept what God is doing at present.
3) Trust what God is going to do.

These things are meant to bring on a crisis of our faith in Him. When we accept the present condition and trust in him he enables us to go forward and Faith grows stronger.

What is the goal of our life? Is it to enjoy all that we can and get all we can out of each and every day. No..... Remember this life is not the end but, the beginning. We should pursue the prize. The prize of eternal life that comes from salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ!
